geotargeting based on IP

I am targeting my clients within 30km from where they live.even though their customer base is within 10km.the reason is what if their customer's ip is not correct.
am i doing the right thing?how do you target geographically for local businesses?

Re: geotargeting based on IP

What traffic source are you using?

Re: geotargeting based on IP

i am using Google Search.

Re: geotargeting based on IP

You would set your targeting in the campaign under settings, then locations.  You can set to the city or zip code level, then Google determines the location based on many factors including IP.

Re: geotargeting based on IP

i am already doing that it's just i was not sure to target 16km or 35km for hair salon.
you brought a good point "Google determines the location based on many factors" i will go with 16km if i go lower google is telling me not enough traffic.

Re: geotargeting based on IP

Try zip code targeting.  That's as accurate as you can get.

Re: geotargeting based on IP

I am in Canada using code postal and targeting 16km radius,i guess that's accurate as can be.
